Requirements
CVN PSA runs on one Linux server that you control. It can be a virtual machine, a cloud instance or hardware in your own rack.
Operating system
- Ubuntu 22.04 or any newer release, or
- Debian 12 or any newer release.
The installer refuses any other operating system with a message that says why. It also checks the server's CPU, memory and free disk space before it changes anything.
What the installer sets up
You do not need to install these yourself. The installer checks for each one and installs what is missing:
| Component | Used for |
|---|---|
| PHP 8.4 and its extensions | The application itself |
| MariaDB | The database |
| Nginx | The web server |
| Redis | Caching and queues, when your setup needs it |
| systemd or supervisor services | The queue worker and the websocket server for live updates and chat |
| A cron entry | The scheduler, which runs every minute |
| Certbot (optional) | A free Let's Encrypt certificate |
Releases include their PHP dependencies and built front-end files, so you do not need Composer or Node.js on the server.
Before you start
Have these ready:
- Your licence key. It is in your account at account.cvntechnologies.com after you buy.
- A domain name pointing at the server, for example
helpdesk.your-msp.com. Your licence binds to it. See Licensing. - Root or sudo access to the server.
- SMTP details for outgoing mail: host, port, encryption, username and password. The installer sends a test message.
- Your branding: company name, logo and accent colour. You can change these later.
Network
- Ports 80 and 443 open to the people who will use it. Your clients reach the client portal over HTTPS.
- Outbound HTTPS to account.cvntechnologies.com for licence check-ins and update checks. If the check-in fails, the running install is not affected.
- Outbound access to your mail server, and to any service you connect: your RMM, payment provider, AI provider or MSP Backups server.
