Newsletters and subscribers
Website › Newsletters is where you write and send newsletters. Website › Subscribers is the list they go to.
Getting subscribers
| Source | How it works |
|---|---|
| Your website | Add a Newsletter block to any page in the Website editor. A visitor who signs up gets a confirmation email and joins the list only after clicking it (double opt-in) |
| By hand or CSV | Add someone yourself, or import a CSV with the email address and an optional name. You confirm that everyone on it agreed to receive your newsletter, and they are subscribed straight away |
| Export | Download the whole list as a CSV, including when and how each person was added |
An address already on the list is never added twice, and an import never re-adds someone who unsubscribed.
Write and send a newsletter
- Choose New newsletter.
- Enter the subject and the preview text, then build the body from blocks: headings, text, buttons, callouts, images, dividers and custom HTML. Tags such as
{{subscriber.name}}are filled in for each person. - Check the preview beside the editor. The server draws it exactly as it will be sent.
- Use Send test… to see it in a real inbox.
- Choose Send to subscribers. It goes to every confirmed subscriber in batches over the next few minutes, and the list shows how many were delivered.
A sent newsletter cannot be edited or recalled. Use Duplicate to start the next one from it.
Unsubscribing and CASL
Every newsletter ends with your company name, your address and a one-click unsubscribe link, as Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) requires. You can move that footer block but not remove it.
Mail apps that read the List-Unsubscribe header show their own Unsubscribe button, which works the same way. Anyone who unsubscribes is skipped, even when a send is already under way.
